STATE Pathologist Marie Cassidy has warned that the country will be left without a single forensic pathologist unless her profession is officially recognised by the Medical Council and training is established. The country has one full-time state pathologist – Glaswegian Prof Cassidy – and two deputies, Dr Michael Curtis and Dr Khalid Jabbar. Assistance on a part-time and regional basis is provided by Dr Margot Bolster. In the UK, just over 100 people work in forensic pathology. (Independent) >
